Answer Minnie Pearl scored a number ten hit with “Giddyup Go – Answer,” in 1966. It was an answer to Red Sovine’s “Giddyup Go.”

QUESTION:    Did Grandpa Jones have a comedy record several years ago about a young man going into the Army?

 

ANSWER:       Grandpa Jones’ “All-American Boy” peaked at # 21 in 1959. It was the same song that hit for Bobby Bare, under the name “Bill Parsons.”

Question My cousin used to sing a song about “Who’ll Help Me Get Over You.” She said it was on the radio by Loretta Lynn several years ago. Do you know about such a song?

 

ANSWER:        “Who’ll Help Me Get Over You” was the flipside of Loretta Lynn’s 1963 # 13 hit, “The Other Woman.”

Question:  The radio guys were talking about Hank Snow holding the record of having the biggest hit record. How did they determine that?

 

ANSWER:  In 1950, Hank Snow’s “I’m Movin’ On” was on the country music charts 44 weeks, in the top 40 for 44 weeks, also in the top ten for 44 weeks and in the number one spot for 21 weeks.

Question:  What was the title of Little Jimmy Dickens’ first hit record?

 

ANSWER: Little Jimmy Dickens’ first chart song was “Take An Old Cold Tater And Wait,” which peaked at # 7 in 1949.

 
 

Question: Some years ago, there was a song on the radio by a girl about “you Never Miss A Good Thing Til  It Says Goodbye.” Do you know the singers name?

 

ANSWER: “You  Never Miss A Real Good Thing-Til He Says Goodbye” was a # one for Crystal  Gayle in 1976.

 

Question: Do you know the name of the guy who had the truck driving song about driving on the road for six days?  And do you know who wrote the song?

 

ANSWER: “Six Days On The Road” was a # 2 hit for Dave Dudley in 1963. The song was written by Earl Green and Carl Montgomery

 

Question:  Our ex-neighbor used to brag about writing the song “Love Song Of The Waterfall” and selling it to Slim Whitman back in the 50’s. Is there any way to check that out?

 

ANSWER:  Slim Whitman’s 1952 # 10 hit, “Love Song Of The Waterfall,” was written by Bob Nolan

 

Question My dad used to sing  a song about “The Roots Of My Raising Run Deep.” He said it was on the radio all the time back in the 70’s. Do you know who had that record and who wrote that song?

Answer “The Roots Of My Raising” was written by Tommy Collins and was a # one for Merle Haggard in 1976.

Question:  I remember a song from back in the early 60’s about “this is to you and yours from me and mine.” I only heard it on the radio a few times. Do you know the correct title and the name of the guy who had the record?

 

ANSWER: “To You And Yours From Me And Mine” was written by Bill Anderson and was a # 13 hit for George Hamilton IV in 1961."

Question One of my cousins is a huge Statler Brothers fan and says they won the CMA award every year in the 1970’s Is that true?
Answer The Statler Brothers won the CMA Vocal Group of The Year in 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1979, 1980 and 1984

Question:  There was a great country song on the radio back in the 70’s about “Don’t Anybody make Love At Home?”  Do you know the singers name?

ANSWER: “Don’t Anyone Make Love At Home Anymore” was Moe Bandy’s 4th charted song. It peaked at # 13 in 1975

Question My aunt says that Jessi Colter is not her real name and that she was married to some rock & roll guy before Waylon Jennings? Is that true?

ANSWER:   Jessi Colter was born Miriam Johnson. She was married to Duane Eddy before marrying Waylon Jennings in 1969
